D.N.C., S.C.-based WVTV-TV reported on Wednesday that the body camera video of a police officer who killed a suspect who was armed with a knife on Friday shows the officer shooting him twice after the suspect raised his hands to the air.
According to WVtv, the officer in question was Officer William Clark, a four-year veteran of the Metropolitan Police Department.
The officer, who is white, has been placed on administrative leave while the department investigates the shooting, but the station said that no charges have been filed yet.
Clark is one of the officers who killed Tyshawn Johnson, 29, after the two men exchanged gunfire outside the Dupont Circle hotel in the District on Friday night.
Johnson was found dead on the street, handcuffed and with his hands behind his back.
He had been shot twice.
A witness told WV TV that Clark, who was dressed in his uniform, shot Johnson multiple times.
Police are investigating the shooting and said they have no further information to share.
